Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, yesterday commiserated with Nigerians, especially the people of Kogi State, family, friends and relations of the APC gubernatorial candidate in last Saturday election, Prince Abubakar Audu, whose death was announced late Sunday.
He prayed God to give the family and friends the fortitude to bear the irreparable lost, and to grant the deceased eternal rest.
In a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Acting ACP Olabisi Kolawole, the IGP commended the people of Kogi State for their enviable peaceful conduct before, during and after the November 21, 2015 gubernatorial election held in the State.
“The IGP is particularly pleased with the very high level of comportment, discipline, orderliness, patience and understanding exhibited by the citizens throughout the period of the election” the FPRO said.

While calling for a similar level of citizens’ cooperation and support for the Police and other relevant agencies during the forthcoming election taking place in Bayelsa State on 5th December, 2015, the IGP equally gave kudos to the Personnel of the Police and other security agencies assigned to election duties in Kogi State for their professional conduct and synergy throughout the election period.
He charged the officers to remain focused and committed in the discharge of their duties to their fatherland.

Meanwhile, the Arewa Youth Parliament has given a pass mark to the Inspector General of Police over new initiatives particularly those bothering on respect for the rights of the citizens and welfare of Police personnel which has made policemen more professional in their duties.
Speaking during a visit to the IP in Abuja, Dr. Bashir Mohammed Maru, Speaker Arewa Youth Parliament noted that Arase’s reform initiatives has also led to the reduction of crime in Nigeria.

He specifically thanked the IGP for establishing the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) which will lead to transparency and accountability in the force and commended President Mohammadu Buhari for his decision to work with IGP Arase.
Responding, IGP Arase thanked the Arewa Youth Parliament for the visit and called for their assistance in the establishment of a Police Youth Forum to help improve Police intelligence capability to enhance better communication between the Police and citizens.
IGP Solomon Arase assured the Arewa Youths and other youths of the country that he remains committed to the service of his fatherland at all times.
