29 SUSPECTED CAR ROBBER’S ARRESTED BY IGP,S TACTICAL SQUAD, RECOVER 12 CARSĀ .
The Special Tactical Squad of the Inspector General of Police set up to deal with increasing tide of car jacking. And related crimes in the country, has arrested 29 suspected car snatches and recovered 12 exotic cars in various operations.
The Acting Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris who had been inandated with complaints of car hijacking and removal of vehicles from where packed by unknown person(s), ordered a crackdown on criminals responsible for car hijacking and stealing nationwide.
A statement signed by Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Donald Awunah said, “Consequently, IGPās Special Tactical Squad swung into action and arrested twenty nine (29) suspects from different states of the federation”.
“The squad also recovered twelve (12) exotic cars. The operation will be sustained to cover the entire country.
It gave the names of the suspects and states where they were arrested as Abdulazeez Sani ,Ā Kano State, Sanusi Hassan, Sokoto State, Abdullahi Musa aka (Sabo), Plateau State, Masaāud Muhammad, Kano State, Inusa Ishiaku, Zamfara State and Zamila Abdulkareem, Kaduna State.
Others are Mohammed Zaiyana, Kano State, Mohammed Sani TukurĀ , Kaduna State, Zaiyanu SanusiĀ Hassan, Sokoto State, Tukur Ibrahim, Kaduna State, Musa Salisu, Kano State, Magaji Saidu, kaduna State.
Also arrested are Saudi Garba aka Katako, kano State, Bature Alhaji Haruna, Kogi State, Abduibassi Umar, Kano State, LLawal Adamu, Kogi State, Haruna DanladiĀ , Kano State, Orodu Jeremiah, Delta State, Sadam HusainiĀ , Kano State, Adamu RabiuĀ , Kogi state and Nasiru Abbah, Plateau State.

The statement advised members of the public to check through the above listed recovered vehicles for possible identification and provide proof of ownership to enable them reclaim same.
“The recovered vehicles are currently in safe keeping at the IGP Special Tactical Squad on Heinous Crime facility at SARS premises old Abattoir Guzape District, Abuja”
Meanwhile, in a related development, the Inspector-General of Policeās Special Tactical Squad working on intelligence sourced in Kogi and Edo States, arrested eight suspects in connection with Kidnapping, Armed robbery and Cattle rustling in the two States.
Three (3) AK 47 riffles and one hundred and forty seven (147) rounds of ammunition were recovered from them.
All the suspects confessed to the crime and have admitted to the various roles they played in the commission of the offence. They will be arraigned in court at the close of investigation.
“While commending the officers and men of the Special Tactical Squad for the high level of professionalism displayed in the course of the operation, the IGP assures members of the Public that the force is being repositioned with modern crime fighting techniques to tackle crime and criminalities in the country”, the statement said.
