    FCT POLICE SMASH 12-MAN ESTATE ROBBERY GANG.

    Following proactive security measures, the Police in the federal capital City have smashed a 12 man robbery gang who have been terrorizing housing estates in the FCT and inflicting serious gunshot injuries on innocent residents of the city.
    FCT police Commissioner, CP Wilson Inalegwu while revealing the breakthrough, confirmed that the group whose leader is known as Albert, was the group that killed 6 Fulani Vigilante’s on their way to Rainbow estate in Pyakasa community where they snatched 2 Sports Utility Vehicles.
    Inalegwu explained that the modus operandi of the gang involve attacking estates around 2 am early hours, shooting their guns sporadically and scaring residents to death, after which they will start ransacking house to house collecting money and valuables as well as cars.
    Among the estates the robbers confessed to have attacked are ACO estate, Rainbow estate, Gold City estate, Goshen estate, Urban Mass estate, Trade Mall estate all in Lugbe district. They also robbed Super Cell estate, Apo; Galadima Round about, and Gwagwalape along Nyanya axis.
    According to Inalegwu, the robbery activities of the gang had given his command cause for concern hence the police had been on their trail. When the leader of the gang was arrested, the feat led to further arrests of the armourer, suppliers, and sellers of stolen cars.
    Following discreet investigations, 12 members of the gang were arrested, 12 vehicles including SUV’s were recovered with 18 units of different vehicle plate numbers which were used to replace original plate numbers of snatched cars.
    Also recovered were 24 assorted weapons including 13 locally made AK 47 rifles, 5 English made AK 47 rifles, several Mark 4 rifles, pistols, 9 magazines, 254 live ammunition and 15 expended AK 47 ammunition.
    Continuing, the CP disclosed that with the arrests of the gang, incidences of robbery attacks on estates in the FCT has recorded zero report in the last two weeks.
