    8 UNIBEN Professors appointed VCs of National Universities.

    Eight professors of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), have been appointed heads of various tertiary institutions in the country in the last one year.

     

    The eggheads are Prof Akii Ibhadode, who is now the vice-chancellor of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources (FUPRE), Delta State; Prof Emmanuel Aluyor, who has been named the pioneer vice-chancellor of the newly established Edo University, Iyamho, Edo State and Prof Sunny Onoheabhi, who is now the rector, Institute of Building Technology, Uromi, Edo State.

     

    Others are the new vice-chancellor of Federal University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State, Prof Frank Otunta from the Faculty of Physical Sciences of UNIBEN; Prof Austin Asagba of the Faculty of Arts, who has become the vice-chancellor of Western Delta University, Ogharra, Delta State and Prof Friday Okonofua of School of Medicine (UNIBEN), who emerged the vice-chancellor, Medical University, Ondo State.

     

    The information was contained in a report presented by the vice-chancellor of the University of Benin, Prof Faraday Orumwense, to the governing council of the University at the 145th Regular Council Meeting.

     

    The report also listed Prof Samuel Aduwa-Ogiegbaen of the Faculty of Education as the new vice-chancellor of Tayo Akpata University, Ekiadolor, Edo State and Prof Emmanuel Ojeme of the Faculty of Education of the UNIBEN as the new provost of College of Physical Education, Mosoga, Delta State.

     

    Prof Orumwense, on behalf of the University Benin, congratulated the appointees, describing the feat, “as a demonstration of the pedigree of UNIBEN, which has re-enforced its positive presence in the public domain globally.”

     

    He said, “If nothing else, these appointments have gone a long way to demonstrate the testimonial of the University and re-enforced the deployment of quality service delivery epitomised by the appointments.

     

    “This is a clear testimony of robust and undisputed quality service to the Nigerian nation in particular and the world at large,” the report noted.
