Crime Prevention: NSCDC Produces training Manual for Private Guards.
The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) said yesterday that it has drawn out a training curriculum to ensure professionalism and efficiency as well as adequate on the job preparation in protection of life and property especially as it concerns the activities of private security guards in the country.
New Commandant General of NSCDC, Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu made the disclosure when he received a joint team from the University of Abuja and National Open University in his office for partnership on training programme.
The NSCDC boss said that, with the establishment of College for Security Management by the corps in Abeokuta and other similar institutes in the country, management and personnel of private security guards in the country would be mandated to undergo regular capacity building and training programmes on modern trends in crime prevention and security protection in private and public institutions.

“Criminals are not only posing threat through physical engagements but have devise other strategies through online and social media for their nefarious activities. The only way to contain and curtail them is through training and retraining of our staffs as well as private security guards on the new methods and technique to address the threats”, Muhammadu said.
He further stressed that the Corps’ other institutions in Abuja, Katsina and Bayelsa states would continue partnering with other institutions in providing training for public officers and potential students on various fields of security consciousness and disaster management using the latest techniques and technology.
Leader of the delegation Dr. Amuche Madu explained that the purpose of the visit was to present a proposal on Professional Development Programme on Law Enforcement and Security Governance as part of its agenda to ensure that agencies of government are knowledge based institutions.
While emphasizing that training improves on morals and credentials of participants, Dr. Madu said it would also curtail excessive expenditure for foreign training by officers when the same services are affordable in the country.
