FCT POLICE RESCUE KIDNAPPED APC ASPIRANT, OLABINTAN, AFTER 72 HR SEIGE.
After a 72 hour siege by the FCT Police Command personally led by Commissioner of Police, Wilson Inalegwu on Kwali, one of the communities in the federal capital territory, where APC gubernatorial aspirant, Victor Olabintan was kidnapped by hoodlums dressed in fake military uniforms last Sunday, the Police last night rescued the victim alive.
Confirming the rescue of Olabintan in an telephone conversation at about 10. 15pm, Inalegwu said the former Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly was being re-united with his family who had relocated to Kwali while the ordeal lasted.
The Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase was said to have volunteered logistics support to the FCT Police Command in the determination to ensure Olabintan’s safe rescue.
Vanguard gathered that when the kidnappers discovered that their hideout had been discovered and that close to 100 policemen had surrounded the hideout, they implored the FCT Police Commissioner to provide them with any amount even if it is transport money to enable them transport themselves out of the area but the CP knowing they were cornered and desperate, played the waiting game and resisted the attempt to storm the hideout.
Having realized that ransom was not forthcoming; they abandoned their victim and escaped through the hills and bushes.

The FCT Police Command on learning of the abduction, had on Monday swung into action, mobilized to Kwali, arrested three members of the gang that kidnaped the APC Gubernatorial Aspirant in Ondo State, who was on his way to Abuja from Akure before the armed gang pretending to be Military guys on checkpoint, flagged his car down at Kwali and abducted him.
News of the abduction of the APC aspirant Vanguard gathered, took the FCT Police Commissioner of Police, Wilson Inalegwu by surprise and he immediately mobilized a crack team with the P personally leading them to Kwali.
Consequently, about 100 policemen including MOPOL, Counter Terror Unit, Police Dog unit and CID branch officers were moved to Kwali to comb the community.
It was gathered that three members of the gang who are from a tribe in the North currently associated with insecurity issues including Cattle Rustling, Kidnapping and destruction of farmlands, were arrested and they confessed to be members of the gang that perpetrated the dastardly act.
It was further gathered that the Commissioner of Police through discreet investigation, reached out to other members of the gang and that the kidnappers of the aspirant, demanded for payment of ransom said to be in the millions of naira.
The former Speaker and aspirant in the of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the state’s 2016 Governorship election, was kidnapped on his way to Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
According to Gboyega Ajayi, Secretary of the Olabintan Campaign Organization, the APC chieftain was kidnapped at Kwali after he was flagged down at a military checkpoint by fake soldiers who turned out to be kidnappers.
His abduction came barely 48 hours after he declared his intention to run for the APC governorship ticket in the state.
