Housing Deficit for Lawyers and State Counsels: Grade A Global City Estate to the Rescue with 100 Duplexes in Abuja; As Barr. Anegbe Asemokhai Brokers Collaborative Patnership With Developers

     

    Scores of Lawyers and State Counsel’s, particularly those working in the Federal Ministry of Justice and other judicial division’s in Abuja on Saturday 28th January 2023 waxed llyrical and were full of gratitude folllowing the ground breaking ceremony of a housing initiative to contain 100 duplexes for them at Waru, in Wasa District of the Federal Capital Territory.

    “For years, since the creation of the federal capital territory, many of us State Counsel’s have concentrated our time, and profession to helping others solve the challenges accommodation and housing of every other Nigerian but neglected ourselves and continue to be at the mercy of Landlords”, they said.

    “Hence, the coming to friution of the Grade A Global City houses and the reality that many of us through subscription will own our houses has created a sense of fullfilment in out lives and that of our families”.

    A State Counsel and Subscriber from the Ministry of Justice, Abuja, Barr. Sani Moyi said, “This land and house initiative is like a dream come true for me and many of my colleagues. I have been working and dedicated myself to my job never giving a thinking of owning my house one day. Imagine like me (on a wheelchair). I never knew I will be a landlord in Abuja one day. I honestly thank Mr. Anegbe Anthony for this initiative”.

     

    Other State Counsel’s of the Justice Ministry and subscribers who spoke and applauded the initiative included Mr. Omoluabi and Mrs. Patricia Okeji who commended the initiator for showing them light.

    Speaking at the the ground breaking, Chairman of the occasion, Legal Luminary, Mr. Chris Oshomegie (SAN) described the housing initiative for State Counsel’s and Judicial workers/legal practitioners as long overdue but welcome.

    He commended the initiator, also a State Counsel, in the federal ministry of Justice, Abuja, Barr. Anegbe Anthony Asemokhai for the foresight in realizing that like other ministries, workers of the Justice ministry deserve beffiting accommodation and houses for their families as well.

    “”This event is historical. I commend the initiator’s of this project becsuse it is one of the cardinal essential’s of life which include housng, education, health, security and food. I want to say that like the mustard seed which when planted grow’s and spread’s, this Abuja initiative will succeed and grow and it will arouse the take off of other such worthy initiatives for judicial worker’s in other parts of the nation”, he said.

    In his remarks, Barr. Anegbe who represented the Grade A Chairman, Hon. Jim Audu expressed gratitude to God for the belief and cooperation of fello State Counsels, other Judicial Officers and legal practitions is seeing that the housing initiative become a reality.

    He said, “Our joy knows no bound, that finally we are here to witness the opening ceremony and building works on site of our Wasa estate. We thank our subscribers who had faith is us even when they were not sure of the existence of the land but paid money based on trust and integrity.. We will not disappoint”.

     

    He said about 100 deplexes and 8 flats will be provided in the facility with State Counsels in Federal Ministry of Justice and supporting staff of the Ministry expected to acquire affordable plots of lands in the estate for their homes noting that, “About 70% of the subscribers are Lawyers, many of them are State Counsels”.

    “Under the collaborative arrangement, with the developers that Staff of Federal Ministry of Justice should be allowed to pay in installments, starting with a deposit of N50,000”.

     

    Since his employment in the Federal Ministry of Justice in 2007, Barr. Asemokhai has been involved in the provision of affordable houses for State Counsels and Staff of Federal Ministry of Justice through the Ministry’s Cooperative and the Federal Ministry of Justice Post Service Housing Scheme

    He said this love drove him to corraborate with the Chairman of Grade A. Global City Properties for the provision of affordable houses for Lawyers at the estate located in Wasa/Apo District, sharing fence with Guzape.

    More than 70% of the Subscribers to this estate are lawyers and many are staff of Federal Ministry of Justice.

     

    Recall that the Federal Executive Council, FEC recently approved the sum of Twenty Eight Billion (N28B) for the infrastructure development of the District.

    Present at the ground breaking was High Chief Patrick Aleghiuno, who represented the Okumagbe of Uwanno Kingdom, Agenebode , His Royal Highness  Dr. George Oshapi, Egabor, High Chief II Damisa, Pastor Francis and Mrs Matha Ezediumo among others.
