NAF jets pound Boko Haram Terrorists at Malkonori; undertake aerial patrol of Abuja-Kaduna railway.
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) said yesterday that its fighter aircraft carried out a recent attack on Boko Haram insurgents’ location outskirt of Malkonori in northern Borno State killing scores of the terrorists.
A statement by Group Captain Ayodele Famuyiwa said, “The latest attack was a follow-up to the close air support operation that repelled the insurgents who attacked own ground forces at Kangarwa.
“Survivors among the insurgents had fled to Dogochuku where they were also attacked by NAF fighter aircraft and forced to relocate to Malkonori” he said.
“Ground forces confirmed a number of the insurgents were killed and their vehicle destroyed from the latest air strike at Malkonori” he added.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has extended its aerial patrol and surveillance of the Abuja-Kaduna highway to include the railway line as part of the ongoing effort to protect lives and safeguard critical national assets within the affected areas.
According to Group Captain Ayodele Famuyiwa, “The latest patrol and surveillance efforts cover both railway terminus in Abuja and Kaduna and environs using NAF helicopters”.
He said that “Given the security situation in the North West region of the country and the usual trend of crime increase towards the end of the year, the NAF in August 2016 commenced extensive aerial patrol of Abuja-Kaduna highway.
Aerial coverage areas included the Abuja metropolis, Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road, Kaduna-Zaria-Kano road, Falgore Forest as well as Minna and environs to checkmate criminal activities such as armed robbery, cattle rustling and kidnapping.
