RIVERS RE-RUN ELECTIONS: POLICE BAN MOVEMENT ON ELECTION DAYS
The Rivers State Police Command yesterday said that after due consultation with relevant stakeholders superintending the forthcoming re-run elections on Saturday, 19/03/2015 in the state, it has restricted movement on election days.

Towards this end, the State Police Command in a statement signed by DSP. Ahmad Muhammad, Police Public Relations Officer, Rivers State Command ordered, “ Outright ban on the use of tricycles, motorcycles and engine speed boats with capacity of 200 horsepower and above, from Friday 18/03/2016 to Sunday 20/03/2016.
“Total restriction of movements between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm on Saturday 19th March, 2016.
“The Command further emphasized that Very Important Personalities (VIPs) are barred from going to any voting center with their security escorts except for their unarmed orderly only.
“They are also to desist from moving about from one place to another on Election Day as provided by the electoral Act.
Continuing the statement noted that “Monitoring teams will be moving to ensure strict compliance and arrest security men accompanying any dignitary in such unauthorized manner.
“The Command for the umpteenth time appeals for the continued support and cooperation of members of the public in this regard, to enable the state have a serene electoral process that can be adjudged not only free and fair but credible, please” it added.
