7 Guards Battalion emerge winners of the 2019 Guards Brigade Inter-Unit Obstacle Crossing Competition

Following a very tough and energy sapping, endurance exercise which lasted hours, the 7 Guards Battalion of the Guards Brigade Nigerian Army on Thursday 22 August 2019, emerged winners of the inter-unit obstacle crossing competition with Commander of the Brigade, Brigadier General Mohammed Takuti Usman tasking troops on the importance of physical fitness and combat survival.

Usman who was superintending the inter-unit drills competition as Commander after his other sojourns at the North East theater of battle against insurgency for years, expressed his determination to focus on continuous training of personnel of the Brigade considering the pivotal roles of safeguarding the President of the federal republic of Nigeria, the first family and the federal capital territory and environs.

Towards this end, he stated that the Brigade will work to ensure strict adherence to the training activities in its forecast of activities.

The Commander expressed delight to be personally present to host his first competition as Commander Guards Brigade.

The Chief of Staff Army Headquarters Garrison, Brig Gen Hillary Mabeakwu who was the guest of honour drills congratulated all the participants for a good performance and show of resilience urging them not to relent in their duties as Guards Brigade.

At the end of the exercise, troops of 7 Guards Battalion emerged winners followed by 176 Guards Battalion took came 2nd position and 177 Guards Battalion at 3rd position.

102 Guards Battalion emerged 4th while Guards Brigade Garrison took 5th position.

Recall that the completion held annually, apart from evaluating troops physical fitness and combat survival, is also aimed at assessing troops confidence as well as to promoting and instilling team spirit and cooperation amongst Guards Brigade personnel.

It was held at the at 7 Guards Battalion Obstacle ground Maitama, Abuja.
