Barely six days after the armed robbery attack on First Bank, Mpape, Abuja was foiled by Operatives of FCT Police Command working in synergy with troops of Guards Brigade, Nigerian Army, the ring leader of the gang and mastermind of the robbery operation, one Ernest Ewim has been arrested.
He was traced to his hideout by crack detectives of the FCT Special Anti-Robbery Squad and picked up.
Recall that the wanted gang leader (Ernest) was fingered by a staff of the bank, Larry Ehizo, who said Ernest and his gang threatened to kill his family, particularly his mother if he Ehizo did not provide information on how to maneuver the CCTV cameras and successfully rob the bank.
During the failed robbery, Ernest was said to have been shot but escaped with bullet wounds.
His arrest was confirmed in a statement on Thursday signed by FCT Police Spokesman, DSP Anjuguri Manzah.

It said, “Following the on-going investigation in the last Saturday’s foiled robbery attempt at a bank in Mpape, Operatives of the FCT Police Command Special Anti-Robbery Squad have arrested one Ernest Ewim 29years a member of the notorious armed robbery gang who has been at large.
“The suspect who played a major role in the foiled robbery attempt was arrested by the team of Police Detectives at his hideout in Katampe1 on Wednesday 1st January, 2020 at about 4pm.
“With this arrest, the total number of suspects arrested in connection with the foiled robbery attempt are now five (5):- Ernest Ewim 29years, Larry Ehizo 30 years, Princewill Obinna 24years, Timothy Joe 21years, and Elijah David 19 years
“The Command reiterates its unwavering commitment to ensure the protection of lives and property and provide FCT residents with quality service delivery.
“The suspects will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation.”
