Atilogwu in South East: Army organises One-Day Summit for Journalists, activists in Enugu

Against the backdrop of mounting opposition to the Nigerian Army’s exercises nationwide,especially in the South East, the Nigeria Army on Thursday, October 31, 2019 took journalists and human rights activists to the classroom in Enugu, capital of Enugu State.

An invitation signed by the Acting Spokesman of the Directorate of Army Public Relations, Col. Musa Sagir, said the one day summit was to “inform, educate and carry the people along on the activities of the Nigerian Army to ensure excellent civil- military relationship”.

The summit which held at the auditorium of 82 Division of Nigerian Army, Enugu sensitized the media and the public on the Nigerian Army exercises and operations in the country, especially in the South East.

Prof. Sunny Udeze of Department of Mass Communication and Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies, Enugu State University delivered the lecture.

The chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT) of Human Right, Liberty Access and Peace Defenders Foundation (HURIDE), Dede Uzor, A. Uzor was among the right activists that took part in the one day summit.

He led two other members of the organisation; the secretary, Barr. Noel Nwabueze Udeoji and Comrade Kenneth C. Nwaka to the event where enlightenment and advise was provided to them on the dangers of confrontational approach instead of diplomatic solutions in the South East planned activities.
