At least 50 people have been killed while several others injured as gunmen suspected to be bandits attacked some villages in Igabi and Giwa local government areas of Kaduna State.
The affected villages are Kerawa, Rago, Marina, Zariyawa, Hashimawa, Gidan Musa Saidu, and Unguwar Barau.
Although the Police authorities and Kaduna state government are yet to confirm the attack, an indigene of Giwa local government told newsmen that Special Police operatives and Troops of the Nigerian Army and Air Force earlier launched offensive attacks against the bandits and in the process, killed many of them.
It was gathered that the bandits launched the attacks in what seems like revenge against the villagers who they accused of providing information to security agencies about their activities which resulted in the killing of their members.

The Hausa Service of the Voice of America reported that new born babies, Almajiris and others were not spared by the gunmen while many residents fled as the assailants also set many houses ablaze and carted away foodstuffs.
The Councillor of Kerawa Ward, Dayyabu Kerawa, who confirmed the incident, said all the over 50 victims were buried around 4pm on Sunday while those who sustained injuries were taken to hospital for treatment.
“We don’t know who they were; they only stormed the villages and started shooting people. As we speak, more than 50 people have been buried; while the injured were taken to the hospital”, he was said adding that the information about the attack came late due to network problems.
The Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State, CP Muri and other top officers of the military and security agencies are said to be presently leading new offensive attacks on camps occupied by the bandits inside the thick forests within Giwa, Birnin Gwari and Igabi local government areas.
