Beware of Fraudster’s Waiting to Scam You of Your Money – COAS Warns Army Retirees; Ask’s them to Shun Activities that Could Jeopardize Dignity, Integrity of Armed Force’s of Nigeria.

 

 


The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Faruk Yahaya has implored retired Senior Officers of the Nigerian Army to guard against the antics of fraudsters currently being used to target pensioners and retirees for monetary scam’s, revealing that a lot of retired officer’s have fallen victim’s of fraudulent activities.

Gen Yahaya made the remark’s just as he tasked retired senior officer’s to devote themselves to the service of the Nation and to eschew any action that could jeopardize the dignity and integrity of the Armed Forces of Nigeria and the Nation at large.

 

The COAS who was represented by Major General Olusegun Adesina, Director of Personnel Services, Army headquarters, stated this on Friday at the send forth Regimental Dinner Night in honour of officers of the rank of colonel and below who retired from the Nigerian Army while serving in Army Headquarters Garrison and Army Headquarters Departments.

 


His words, “It is indeed a great pleasure for me to be invited as the special Guest of Honour at this auspicious occasion, which is the Regimental Dinner Night in honour of officers of the rank of colonel and below who retired from the Nigerian Army while serving in Army Headquarters Garrison and Army Headquarters Departments. It gladdens my heart to join you and other invited guests to celebrate these gallant officers who served the Nation well with the NA, are now enjoying their well-earned rest in retirement.

 

“Retirement is a phase of life, which most of us serving military personnel hopefully pray to enjoy in a gratifying and peaceful manner after giving our best to the system. It is therefore, a milestone which is worth celebrating.

“I am certain that the transition from active military service to retirement is not without its own peculiar challenges, but I believe there is also much to enjoy in retirement especially if you have prepared well for it.

“All efforts are being made to ensure that entitlements for all retired and discharged personnel are paid on time. It may not be in my place to do so, but I will still go ahead and caution you to please make maximum use of your entitlements.

“Stay guarded against the antics currently being used by fraudsters to target pensioners and retirees for monetary scams. You must be careful of falling victims of their fraudulent activities as many of our colleagues have fallen victims to their tricks.

 

The Army Chief added, “As you enjoy this phase of life as retired military officers. You still remain very important to the Nigerian Army as your experience will continue to count and could be required at any time Please keep in touch with those friends and colleagues you left behind in the Service, and we hope to continue to see you at many functions you are invited for.”

He commended the Commander, Army Headquarters Garrison, officers and men for their efforts in organizing the auspicious event and congratulated the families especially spouses of the retired officers who stood by them and gave all the moral and spiritual support needed to go through their years in Service up till retirement.

In his welcome addressing, the Commander Army Headquarters Garrison Major General Kabiru Garba told the retired personnel that the ceremony was arranged for all gallant patriots, as a similar ceremony was held in this same venue in December last year in honour of retired Major Generals and Brigadier Generals.

He added that the dinner was organised to appreciate the retired personnel and their spouses for thier meritorious service to the nation.

General Garba advised them to contribute to the growth of their immediate communities and the society in general.
