Brigadier General Aminu Bande takes over as GOC 8 Division

The newly appointed Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division Nigerian Army Brigadier General Aminu Bande on Thursday 12 September 2019 assumed command of 8 Division Nigerian Army Sokoto.

Prior to his appointment as the Acting GOC, Brigadier General Bande was the Commander 17 Brigade in Katsina state.

In a colourful traditional military handing and taking over ceremony at the Division Headquarters in Kalambaina Sokoto, General Bande thanked his predecessor (Major General Jide Ogunlade) for his leadership role and mentorship in the course of his career.

He promised to follow the foot print he left behind to achieve the mandate reposed on him by the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai.

Earlier in his farewell remarks, the immediate past General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Major General Jide Ogunlade thanked the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai for the opportunity given him to contribute his quota to the fight against Armed Banditry and other sundry crimes bedeviling the North West.

General Ogunlade also appreciated the efforts of his Commanders, Officers and soldiers of 8 Division commitment, loyalty and cooperation during his tour of duty.

He encouraged them to extend same to his successor.

Highlights of the ceremony include the signing of handing and taking over note, decoration of the new GOC with 8 division insignia, and handing and taking over of Command flag.
