While also inaugurating other projects including the Nigerian Army School of Military Police Headquarters block, remodelled students canteen, and renovated block of classrooms, the COAS joined in his quest for climate amelioration by supporting Principal Staff Officers of Army Headquarters in flagging off the tree planting exercise for an eco-friendly environment.
The Commissioning is “one outcome of the COAS maiden visit to the School in Basawa on 7 October, 2021.

He made the remark during the Passing Out Parade (POP) of 82 Regular Recruit Intake, after the completion of their four months of Basic Military Training at Depot Nigerian Army,
He welcomed the 6,000 graduands to the institution that “imbibed the core values of loyalty, selfless service, courage, discipline, integrity and respect for others.”
General Yahaya said: “It is commendable to say that the passing out troops will enhance the combat efficiency of the Nigerian.”
Expressing confidence that having acquired the basic military training required to be professionals in the Nigerian Army, he enjoined the young soldiers to utilise the training in defence of Nigeria.
“You are always expected to do your utmost best to sustain these values and maintain high operational standards to enhance your ability and the collective mission of the Nigerian Army,” he added.
The COAS also commended the Commandant, Depot Nigerian Army, Major General Aminu Chinade and his team of instructors for the excellent job of training quality soldiers for the manpower need of the Nigerian Army and the defence of territorial integrity of Nigeria.
