Defence Minister Commissions 300 Seater Auditorium, Sports Complex & Other CDI Intervention Projects at Defence Intelligence College, Karu, Abuja

 

 

In continuation of activities lined up for the 2022 Defence Advisers and Attache’s Conference, the Minister of Defence, Major Gen. Bashir Magashi (rtd), on Tuesday commissioned veral landmark projects constricted by the Chief of Defence Intelligence (CDI), Major General Samuel Adebayo at the Defence Intelligence School, Karu, FCT.

The projects incuded a 300 seater capacity auditorium, a multi-purpose sports complex, a fire service station and truck, a block of 30 room students hostel and an enlarge kitchen.

 

 

Speaking at the occasion, the CDI disclosed that on assumption of duty at the Defence Intelligence Agency, he discovered after a tour of the Defence Intelligence College, its training arm, that a school of such caliber did not have a place for hosting important events that inolved gatherings of large number of people.

“This led to the decision to embark on the construction of the auditorium. We also discovered that due to demand for training opportunities by other security agencies,    there was need for a transit accommodation for students of fellow security agencies hence the need to build this students hostel comprising 30 rooms.

 

Furthermore, the CDI disclosed that increasing activities of the Defence Intelligence College made it imperative for personnerl, instructors and students to perform spoorting activities making it imperative for the construction of a sporting complex at the DIC.

 

In an interview after the commissioning, Commandant of the DIC, Copmmodore Ebiobowei Abraham Zipele said, “Training is very vital for any military organization and since intelligence drives military operations, there is constant need to improve training. The need to sustain this high level of training in the college neccessitated the provision of these infrastructure”.

 

“Currently, we are training between 60 to 80 students and with many indicating interest to come for training, the 30 room student accommodation will enhance our training while the 300 seater auditorium will ease our challenges in hosting intellectul and other important gatherings involving more 100 persons”.

 

Zipele commended the Chief of Defence Intelligence Major Gen Adebayo for always coming to the aid of DIC whenever requests are made for the uograde and provision of new facilities in the College.
