DHQ Garrison Commander, Maj Gen Fakrogha task’s Warrant Officer’s, Senior NCOs on Importance of Military Drills, Marksmanship and Discipline in Winning Battles

The Commander Defence Headquarters Garrison, Major General Priye Fakrogha has charged Warrant Officers of the Nigerian Army and Senior Non Commissioned Officers to always take exercises involving drills, shooting, map reading and obstacle crossing serious as they could decide outcome of battles whenever you (personnel) find yourselves in such in the future.
Speaking at the closing of the AHQ Garrison WOS AND SNCOS Competition 2022 at Mogadishu barracks, Fakrogha who was the Special Guest of Honour said “We have all witnessed the giant strides the COAS, Lt Gen F Yahaya has taken in areas of operational readiness of the NA in a bid to achieving his vision.
“It is in this light that his interest in the training of soldiers with an expected commensurate input by officers and soldiers of the NA cannot be overemphasized. 
 
“The COAS has directed training of all personnel at all levels, reiterating the belief that if we train and sweat blood during peace time, we would sweat less during military operations.
He said the Commander AHQ Garrrison, Major Gen Kabiru Garba has been a quiet achiever in almost all he does, a feat many can attest to, especially in areas of training adding, “It is not therefore very surprising to see the quality in the output of training being witnessed since assumption as the Comd AHQ Gar.
“I congratulate you and believe greater achievements in terms of training shall be further made as we go into your Command year.
He continued, “The week-long competition, meant to test your improved level of endurance and discipline, has been of an approved standard. This does not imply that you cannot have more improvements in all areas. So I would enjoin you not to rest on your oars, believing you have reached your peak.
“Your endurance was tested during the point-to-point exercise, combat swimming and obstacle, while your team work and discipline were tested during the drill competition.
“Equally, your weapon handling and marksmanship were tested during the range classification to attest to your level of competence. In all these, I would say well done to you all.
“For the champion team, a big congratulation to you and your team leaders. Although you have been declared as the overall champion in this year’s WOS and SNCOS Competition, the aim of the competition is to train and build on the knowledge, sharpness, endurance and team spirit of you all.
“I hope this was achieved during this training. On this note, I once again congratulate the Comd AHQ Gar for this achievement within his short period of taking over the reins of this Command. To the officers and soldiers of this Command, I enjoin you not to relent in your efforts at achieving the set goals of the Commander”.
Earlier, the AHQ Garrison Training Officer, Brig Gen AT Lawal disclosed that though the competition ended today, the actual training has been on for about one month.
He said, “Today is the culmination of all the training. The men you are seeing today will tell you thst they are more proficient, more physically fit and much better. This is in line with the directive and expectation of the Chief of Army Staff. The men are better prepared and ready for assigned tasks.
At the end of the Competition, Charlie Company came out tops (1st) with 351 points, Alpha Company came 2nd with 310 points while Bravo Company took the 3rd position with 287 points.
The Commander Naval Unit Abuja, Commodore Mohammed and the Commander, NAF Camp Abuja who were present at the occasion, joined the Commander AHQ Garrison, Major Gen KN Garba in presenting trophies and awards to the winners.
