The Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral Ibrahim Dewu, has admonished officers and ratings of the Nigerian Navy Ship, NNS Pathfinder, Port Harcourt to take advantage of the newly renovated sports complex to develop physical fitness to enable them tackle their assigned responsibilities creditably.

Speaking on Thursday at the commissioning of the renovated NNS Pathfinder Sports Complex which was abandoned for 42 years, Rear Admiral Dewu noted that considering the security situation in the country, officers should be physically fit at all times.

He disclosed that the renovated sports complex will prepare officers of the Base to maintain their lead in Nigerian Navy sport competition recalling that the Eastern Naval Command of the Nigerian Navy came overall tops in the last games.

His words, “I am a sports man to the core and for me to commission the sports complex, I am happy because as a military man you are supposed to be fit and of course the situation of the country and our position demands that we should be physically fit to deliver on our mandate.

“The multi-purpose sports complex will help the men of the Base to be physically fit. Eastern Naval Command remains the champion of the last NN games and this sports complex will help us to maintain our fitness and retain our position at the games.

“This is a place for us to train and be physically fit.”
