The UNISFA Acting Head of Mission and Force Commander, Major General Benjamin Olufemi Sawyerr, on Thursday 16 February 2023 at Athony the Sector South Headquarters of UNISFA, extoled the virtues of the Ghanaian Contingents to UNISFA.
He praised the Ghana Government and it’s Contingent for responding swiftly to the UN request for the reconfiguration of the Multinational Peace Keeping Force in UNISFA.
Gen Sawyerr disclosed that the units have made UN, UNISFA and Ghana proud through their acts of bravery, professionalism, community engagement through laudable CIMIC projects and medical services to the host communities.
He further noted that despite all challenges faced, they were able to deliver on UNISFA Mandate implementation.
The head of mission urged the Contingent to see the Award of the UN Medal as a recognition of their contribution to the cause of peace adding that it should spur them to do more to the service of humanity.
Present at the occasion were the Ghanaian Delegation led by Major General Charles Kodjo Abede Awity from Ghana, members of the Management Team of UNISFA, Commanding Officers of other UNISFA Contingents, Staff Officers and Heads of Sections in UNISFA.
