Gallant troops of the Nigerian Army, on Sunday crushed 12 Boko Haram/ISWAP militants in two separate clashes after heavy gun confrontation in Northeastern Nigeria, security sources have disclosed.
According to the source, five of the militants were killed on Saturday during a gun battle with the troops of the Multi National Joint Task Force (MNJTF), in the far Northeastern Goni sulomti village along Damasak road, Mobar local government area of Borno state.
He added that the militants came through Bamma Bukarti, then Jilli village and accessed Goni Sulomti villages to attack two military formation, before being repelled back by defence forces of Nigeria and Chadian troops.
The sources said that the troops also chased two of the militant vehicles that struggled to escape and destroyed them with their occupants.
“Unfortunately, we lost a policeman and a civilian woman in the attack,” one of the sources said.

Another source disclosed that the latest militant attack targeted the town of Gubio local government area on Sunday at about 6pm, but were “immediately intercepted and neutralised seven militants.
“We got the hint through a Competent human intelligence sources that the militant were seen passing through Goni Sulomti village, Damasak and Mobbar LGA on Sunday.
“Consequently, the security agencies prepared and waited for the terrorists before eliminating them.
“Through the combined efforts of the ground troops and the air component of the Military’s Operation Lafiya Dole, the fighting troops destroyed three vehicles equipped with machine guns, adding that there was no any casualties suffered by the army,”he said.
Confirming the development, Bako Idris, a local militia, said most of the assailants who stormed the town of Gubio were killed.
Idris said that the town was calm and under the total control of the security agencies adding that dozens of residents who fled to the bush had return to their homes.
