Inspector General of Police Mohammed Adamu Abubakar has commended the Directorate of Police Force Education for the development and reinvigoration being experienced in Police Secondary and Primary Schools across the country even as he advised that the strides should be sustained.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony of the new headquarters office complex at Force Education Unit, Dei-Dei, Abuja, the IGP also commended the new partnership between the Nigerian Police Education Unit and UNESCO Read and Earn Foundation which will lead to the training of 300 teachers for Police schools across the country.
Earlier, the Director, Police Force Education, DCP Rabi L. Umar disclosed that she inherited the new headquarters building at the lintel level and summed up the courage to complete it noting that the project was executed through direct labour and the source of funding is internally generated revenue of the education unit.
“The new office complex has 24 offices and will conveniently accommodate the staff of the unit”, she said adding, “With the commissioning, no staff will complain of lack of office again and it will also enable the monitoring of staff”.

DCP Rabi continued, “Sir, within my one year in office, renovation work and completion of new projects were carried out in the secondary schools and many Police Children’s schools nationwide. This is borne out of our desire to ensure that the learning environment should be conducive for learning.
With the completion of this office project, the focus will now be shifted to the schools to improve the learning condition.
Furthermore, DCP Rabi said, “In line with the present governments policy on compulsory education from primary to secondary schools, the Force Education Unit has been expanding its presence to make quality education accessible and affordable to the children of Police officers and civilians alike in all states of the federation.
” Based on your (IGP) directive, the Police Day Secondary School in Abuja will start academic activities in September 2019. After this, we will also explore the possibility of opening in Lagos and other states”.
“As part of our achievements, the UNESCO Read and Earn Federation have offered to train our teachers all over the federation starting with 300 teachers here in Abuja at no financial cost to the Police”.
Present at the occasion were some members of the Police Management team including DIG Administration and Finance, DIG Usman Tilli Abubakar, DIG in charge operations, DIG Abdulmajid Ali, DIG in charge Logistics and Supply, DIG Frederick Lakanu and President, Police Officers Wives Association (POWA), Hajia Fatimah Adamu.
