Imo Judgment: APC/Presidency arm twisting Supreme Court to take over 4 PDP States – Secondus.

The Peoples Democratic Party PDP says its National Working Committee, NWC, has credible intelligence that the Presidency and APC leadership are still arm twisting the Judiciary to ensure they deliver to them four PDP won states of Sokoto, Benue, Bauchi and Adamawa while keeping states like Kano.

Addressing an emergency meeting of its National Executive Committee (NEC), national chairman of the party, Uche Secondus said, ‘It is with deep pain, sadness and concern for the fate of democracy in our nation that I welcome you leaders of our great party to this very important 87th National Executive Committee, NEC meeting.

“Anxiety has engulfed our country because it’s now evident that all the huge sacrifice and contributions of our founding fathers to ensure the endurance of democracy in our land are being thrown to the dustbin.

“All the efforts of our great party to deepen and grow our democracy for 16 years that resulted in our losing power and handing over in a seamless transition to the opposition are being blatantly squandered in APC’s 56 months reign.

“In our 86th NEC meeting in this very hall on June 20th, 2019, I titled my address ‘Nigeria in distress’ when I reviewed the state of the nation after the horrible general election of February and March 2019 and the inauguration of the second term of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Between then and now incalculable harm has been done to our psyche as a nation with our democratic value greatly undermined.

Bayelsa and Kogi.

Your Excellences, great leaders of our party, before the final undressing of democracy in our country on January 14, 2020 using the Judiciary, governorship elections were conducted on November 16, 2019 in Bayelsa and Kogi states.

What happened on March 9, 2019 governorship elections in most states which critical minds described as bizarre was a child play.

The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and the federal government combining effectively with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and some security agencies including military took the electoral manipulation to the next level.

To give the desired colour to their agenda and facilitate the electoral fraud as designed, a unique type of unbridled violence was introduced.

In Kogi state for instance, electoral violence was licensed in such a way that APC thugs killed and maimed opponents indiscriminately under the watchful eyes of the security operatives.

Perhaps the most callous and wicked of all election violence in the country was the burning to death one of the PDP woman leaders in the state, Madam Salome Ocheju Abu ( may I crave the indulgence of NEC to stand for a minute silence in her honour……..may her soul and that of faithful departed rest in peace. Amen).

For us in PDP, Madam Salome Ocheje Abu is not just a heroine but a martyr for democracy who now symbolizes the struggle for the right to vote in our democracy.

APC Judicial theft of Imo State mandate.

The APC and President Muhammadu Buhari’s hatchet job of undermining our democracy through the judiciary which began with the midnight breaking into the homes of Judges and Justices in 2016 and the unilateral removal of the former Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Walter Onnoghen, in January 2019 on the eve of general election is beginning to materialize clearly.

Sokoto, Benue, Bauchi, and Adamawa.

The National Working Committee, NWC, has credible intelligence that the Presidency and APC leadership are still arm twisting the Judiciary to ensure they deliver to them four PDP won states of Sokoto, Benue, Bauchi and Adamawa while keeping states like Kano we clearly won for them.

We have demanded that the seven Justices that participated in the Imo judicial fraud should rescue themselves from the remaining cases involving the PDP.

We know that the APC and President Buhari have taken our civility for weakness and inability to act.

The Presidency has even abandoned governance amidst myriads of challenges in the land and prefers to be joining issues with us as main opposition party, a deliberate policy to divert attention from their inept leadership.

We have made it abundantly clear that since they have chosen to make injustice law using the highest court in the land, the Supreme Court they should be ready to embrace the consequences of their actions.

Your Excellences, great leaders of our party, as I end this address permit me to quote the 3rd President of America Thomas Jefferson who said that “when injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty”

This is the point we are now as the APC is using the highest court in the country to legitimize injustice.
