Kidnapping/Cultism/Oil Theft: Army begins Exercise Crocodile Smile 4 in Niger Delta.

The 6 division of the Nigerian Army will on Friday, October 25, 2019 commence Exercise Crocodile Smile 4, the Special training/military operation targeted at flushing out kidnappers, armed criminals, cultists and oil thieves in the entire South-South region.

Making the disclosure in a statement, Spokesman of the division, Major Charles Ekeocha, Deputy Director, Army Public Relations said, “In line with the Nigerian Army’s Training Directive for the year 2019, troops of 6 Division Nigerian Army Port Harcourt including affiliated Formations and Units within its entire Area of Responsibility (AOR) covering Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta and Rivers States will be participating in this year’s Exercise Crocodile Smile IV.

“The flag off ceremony will be held on 25 October, 2019 within the entire Niger Delta Region simultaneously.

“The Exercise is intended to practice troops on Operational, Administrative, Logistics as well as Civil-Military Cooperation aspects in a Military Operation.

“However the provision of free Medical Care to host communities, Quick Impact Projects and the conduct of other military exercises will be undertaken by the troops for the benefit of their host communities.

“This year’s Medical Outreach Programme will be held in Bolo Town and Rumuokoro Market in Ogu-Bolo and Obio/Akpor Local Government Areas respectively.

‘The exercise is also aimed at imparting to the troops the importance of equipment maintenance, reconnaissance, Inter-Service and Inter-Agency cooperation, effective application of the Nigerian Army Code of Conduct as well as strict adherence to the Rules of Engagement (ROE).

It is also ensure training on the handling of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), captured or surrendered hostile elements in line with International best Practices as well as practice the new Super Camp concept as currently deployed by the Nigerian Army in the fight against terrorism.

In the light of the above, the 6 Division Nigerian Army wishes to inform the general Public as well as solicit their usual understanding and cooperation during the period of the exercise and beyond.

This command also wishes to allay the fears of the general public as they will witness increased movement of troops and equipment during this period.
