The 6 division, Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt on Wednesday 2nd October 2019 inaugurated a block of 14 flats and performed a ground breaking ceremony for a recreation center built for personnel of the division.
Speaking at the occasion, Major General Jamil Sarham, GOC 6 division expressed joy that the commissioning of the accommodation block, lawn tennis court and the ground breaking of a recreation centre here in Port Harcourt Barracks were undertaken under his tenure in the division.
He said, “These laudable projects were conceived, funded and executed by a philanthropist per excellence Chief (Sir) Ikenna Okafor (KSS) Ide Akwaeze
“As you are aware, this Division is barely in its 3rd year of existence, but you will all agree with me that it has achieved a lot especially in the areas of anti illegal bunkering, pipeline vandalism and kidnapping amongst other sundry crimes.
“This would not have been possible without the able guidance and directives of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai.
“In the aspect of structural development, I would borrow from the saying that ‘’ Rome was not built in a day’’.
“As such, we will continue to do our best within the resources available at our disposal to ensure relevant structures are put in place within the barracks in order of scale of preference.
“Permit me to also state categorically that, Monipulo Nigeria Limited has impacted immensely in the wellbeing of most families in this barracks through charity supports and support to some of the NAOWA programmes.
“Today we are privileged to have Chief Mrs Seinye OB Lulu Briggs, the Executive Vice Chairman, Monipulo Limited, who is the SGoH of this Ceremony in our midst.
