Nigeria’s CDS, General Olonisakin donates Sporting Equipment to Armed Forces of Sao Tome & Principe

The Armed Forces of Nigeria has restated its commitment to continue to support the militaries of Sao Tome and Principe and other neighbouring countries towards the enhancement of regional security.

This was demonstrated at the presentation of sporting equipment donated by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Olonisakin to the Armed Forces of Sao Tome and Principe.

The presentation was conducted on Wednesday 4 December 2019 at the Headquarters of the Armed Forces of Sao Tome and Principe by the newly appointed Nigerian Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe, Ambassador Christopher Chiejina.

He was accompanied by the Defence Attache of Nigeria, Navy Captain Oluseyi Oladipo.

In his remarks, the Ambassador stated that the donation was a pointer to the enhancement of bilateral defence and security relations between the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe.

He expressed his hope that in due course, this relationship will be strengthened by the inauguration of the Nigeria-Sao Tome and Principe Bilateral Military Commission, in accordance with the Joint Development Zone Treaty.

Receiving the donated items, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Sao Tome and Principe, Brigadier General Idalecio Pachire, expressed his appreciation to his Nigerian counterpart and the Armed Forces of Nigeria and called for continued cooperation between the militaries of both countries.
