NIPSS DG visits Army HQ, Seeks COAS Support in Completion of Participant’s Accommodation, Logistics Challenge’s.

The Director General, National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, Professor Ayo Omotayo has commended the Nigerian Army for the construction of an ultra-modern Participants Quarters for senior military, police and other MDAs participating at the Institute.

Speaking when he led a delegation from NIPSS on a courtesy visit to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Faruk Yahaya in Abuja, Prof Omotayo disclosed that the Participant’s Quarter’s was about 95 per cent completed and solicited the support of the Army Chief towards the final completion of the project this year.
While noting the daunting security challenges confronting the country and the pivotal role the Nigerian Army is playing in tackling insecurity across all parts of the country, the DG said, the army has been leaving up to expectation and making the country proud
Omotayo added, “We also recognize roles the Nigerian Army has been playing in international peace keeping deployments which has helped stabilized peace and security in many nations of the world.
On the NA’s contribution to the academic and other developments of the Institute, the DG said, “We respect so much, and appreciate so much, all that the Nigerian Army has been doing for NIPSS. I want to say that if there is no Nigerian Army, I don’t know where NIPSS would have been”.
He there-after extended an invitation to the Army Chief to participate at the security and peace seminar which the institute is hosting in Jos later in the year saying, “As an Institute, we recognize that Nigeria in the last 33 years have been going through a lot in terms of insecurity/security challenges and there is constant need to reappriase where we are and steps to overcome these challenges”.
In his reponse, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Faruk Yahaya described NIPSS as a partner in progress especially as it relates to molding and producing quality participants at strategic level for the Army.
He said, “NIPSS as you know is also our own. We value the quality of training, the perspectives and I want to say it is a good place to leverage on the various high level experiences gathered at the Institute.
The COAS promised continued support to the institute even as he directed the provision of a vehicle to the institute from the army to help ameliorate the logistics challenges the institute was currently facing.
