Troops in gun battle with Boko Haram fighters along Damboa-Maiduguri road

Troops of the Nigerian Army are currently in a gunfight with Boko Haram insurgents along Damboa to Maiduguri Road in the North East state of Borno.
It was gathered that suspected members of Jamā’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihād (Boko Haram) terrorists group ambushed troops of Operation Hadin Kai escorting commercial vehicles at Yaleri village along Damboa Road.
Zagazola Makama, a counter insurgency expert and security analyst in the Lake Chad confirmed that the troops are currently battling with the insurgents while many of the passengers had scampered for safety.
“The jihadists rained heavy gunfire on the Military convoy moving in armoured and soft-skin vehicles, escorting commercial vehicles but the troops are currently responding to them.
“There is no certain figure of casualties yet”, he said.
It would be recalled that the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), terrorists, had also over the past few weeks, concluded plans of staging ambushes and attacks against the Nigerian military along strategic routes and formations in the Northeast.
