The United Nations Under Secretary General for Peace Operations, Jean-Pierre Lacroix has visited Abyei following renewed clashes and tensions which has put intense pressure on communities and affected the peacekeeping operations of UNISFA.
However, despite the challenges, the UN
peacekeepers’ have remained undaunted in their work.
Mr Lacroix who made this known in his twitter handle also noted that “In spite of the challenges, they (Peacekeepers) are committed to #ServingForPeace. It’s a pleasure seeing their hard work in person.”
During the visit, a United Nations high-level delegation led by the Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix and the Chef de Cabinet of the United Nations Secretary-General, Courtenay Rattray met with President Salva Kiir of South-Sudan
