In a bid to ensure peaceful Eid-El-Fitr celebrations in Kogi State, the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Police Command, CP Ali A. Janga on Thursday ordered a massive deployment of Police personnel across the State to ensure hitch-free celebrations.
Consequent upon the directives, the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Command led by its Commander, DSP Babagana Bukar while acting on actionable intelligence, arrested the duo of Ibrahim Haruna and Dahiru Abdullahi both of Kaduna State at the river side in Iyara, Ijumu LGA of Kogi State.
They both confessed to the various Criminal roles the played in the commission of several armed robbery in different towns across the State.
During interrogation, they further confessed to belonged to the gang of twelve dreaded and vicious kidnap for ransom gang.
They also confessed that they robbed their victims on the Iyara highway and collected their money, cloths, handsets, jewelries.
The suspects were arrested while preparing to travel back to Kaduna. Items recovered from includes, four assorted handsets, different sets of new cloths, different sets of new Jewelries, sets of shoes, rubber slippers, Cutlasses.
A statement by ASP William Ovye Aya, Police Public Relations Officer, said, “Efforts are on to trail and arrest the other members of the gang. Suspects will be arraigned in Court on completion of investigation.

“The renewed commitment of the Nigeria Police Force in collaboration with other Security agencies to sustain the tempo of the fight against kidnapping and other violent Crimes in Kogi State and guarantee protection of lives and property before, during and after the Eid-El-Fitr celebrations remains unequivocal and unwavering” he added.
Exhibits recovered include different sets ofjewelries, shoes, rubber slippers, different sets of cloths, 4 assorted handsets and cutlasses
In a similar development, the Katsina State Police Command said that its operatives on Thursday 14th June 2018 at about 8:30am, led by the Divisional Police Officer, Batagarawa Division received information that, armed robbers had blocked the road between Barawa and Salihawa village, Batagarawa LGA of Katsina state and shot one Sani Lawal aged 31yrs of Salihawa village, Batagarawa LGA.
The DPO and his team immediately swung into action and moved to the scene.
Before the arrival of the police patrol team, the villagers had already summoned courage and mobilized to the scene where three yet to be identified armed robbers were lynched and one locally made pistol was recovered.
Two of the robbers died instantly while the other was rescued unconscious.

Katsina Command said both the victim and the surviving suspect were rushed to the General Hospital, Katsina, for treatment.
Subsequently the suspect later died on admission while the victim is responding to treatment.
Police Special Anti-Robber Squad (SARS) has been drafted to the scene with a view to arresting other fleeing members of the syndicate. Investigation is ongoing.
