Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen have invade Zaki Biam community of Benue State, North Central Nigeria, killing over 20 people with properties worth millions of naira razed.

Eyewitnesses said that the gunmen entered Zaki Biam, in Ukum Local Government Area (LGA) on Monday evening shooting down anyone in sight.

While, there is no official confirmation to ascertain if the attackers were Fulani Herdsmen, the incident is coming barely one week after the Governor of Benue State, Orthom ordered herdsmen out of the state in the wake of massacre of 10 persons.
Narrating the tragic incident, the community leader, Chief Udam Wuhe, said more than 10 gunmen had at about “5pm on Monday, stormed the town from Tor Tonda- Zaki Biam.
Wuhe said that the people of the community “counted not fewer than 20 dead bodies with several others injured and many houses razed”.
Benue State Police Public Relation Officer, Moses Yamu, who confirmed the killing, could not ascertain the casualty figure.
“We are yet to ascertain the number of those killed in the attack. Our men are already on ground there to restore normalcy to the area,” he said.
