Defence Minister, Mansur Muhammad Dan Ali will on Monday 27th November 2017, flag off the 2017 Military Pensions Verification exercise at the Mogadishu Cantonment, Asokoro, Abuja by 10 am just as the exercise will take place simultaneously across the 36 states of the federation.
Over 90, 000 retired military personnel are expected to participate in the exercise expected to end on Saturday December 9, 2017, which was deliberately spread for a period of two weeks to ensure manageable crowd throughout the period, thus ensuring a hitch-free and stress-free verification exercise.
Chairman, Military Pensions Board, (MPB), Brigadier General Adekunle Adigun Adesope who made this disclosure at a press briefing to herald the exercise on Monday, noted that pensioners are expected to attend the verification exercise at any of the designated Centers nearest to them irrespective of their state of last verification.
Adesope warned that “Pensioners are to please note that they will not be allowed to change their banks, account numbers or any other personal details during the verification exercise.
Noting that the conduct of the verification exercise will involve finger print capturing and matching with biometric details currently in the MPB payroll data base, the Chairman solicited for pensioners cooperation, patience and orderliness towards ensuring a smooth exercise.
He gave detailed dates allotted to various ranks brackets of pensioners for the verification exercise as follows: Private to Lance Corporal- 27th -30th November, 2017; Corporal to Sergeant and equivalent-1st to 3rd December 2017; Staff-Sergeant to Army Warrant Officer and equivalents-4th to 5th December.

Others are 2nd Lieutenants to Captains and equivalent-6th December 2017; Major to Colonel-7th December; Brigadier Generals and above and equivalents-8 December while all absentees including those critically sick and hospitalized have a second chance on the 9th of December 2017.
Adesope enjoined pensioners to honour the dates in view of the fact that they are part of the crowd control measures designed for an orderly and successful conduct of the exercise even as he announced that team leaders are at liberty to attend to groups on dates not allocated to them if original allottees have been attended to and time permits.
A breakdown of the states and venue of the exercise are as follows: Abia State-Nigerian Army Finance and Logistics School, Owerrinta; Adamawa State, Gibson Jalo Cantonment, Yola; Anambra State, Army Barracks, Ontsha; Akwa Ibom State, Ibawa Barracks, Abak; Bauchi State, HQ 33 Brigade, Bauchi and Borno State, Maimalari Contonment, Maiduguri.
