6 Division: Buratai pays courtesy call on Amayanabo of Opobo Kingdom; as Wike urges synergy between Army/Police in tackling Kidnapping/Cultism.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen TY Buratai on Friday paid a courtesy visit to His majesty King, Dr. Dandeson Douglas Jaja JP, Jeki the 5th, Treaty King Amayanabo of Opobo Kingdom, Rivers state.

 Buratai’s courtesy visit to King Amayanabo of Opobo Kingdom in his Palace is in continuation of activities marking the operationalization of the newest Division in the Nigerian Army (6th div).

King, Dr. Dandeson Douglas Jaja JP, Jeki, is the Natural Ruler of Opobo Kingdom, Grand Patron Police Community Relations Committee, Chancellor Federal University Dutsi-ma Katsina State and Chairman Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers.

The Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers were also present at the meeting and some senior officers of the Nigerian Army

Meanwhile, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike on Thursday urged the Nigeria Army to support the Police in tackling the rising wave of kidnapping in the country, and cultism in the Rivers state.

Speaking during a courtesy visit by the Minister of Defence, Mansur Mohammed Dan-Ali at the Government House Port Harcourt, Governor Wike said that the support will help in promoting security across the country.

“I want to urge the Nigerian Army to support the police to tackling kidnapping and enhance security.

“It is also necessary that you assist the police to weed out cultists as they are beginning to rear their ugly heads and trouble-peace loving residents of the state,” Wike said.

He further disclosed that Rivers state has not witnessed any major vandalism of oil pipelines because of the security programmes being executed by the state government.
