The 7 Guards Battalion of Guards Brigade Nigerian Army, of Friday December 21, 2018 inaugurated three projects at Lungi Barracks constructed by the Commanding Officer, Lt. Col MS Daroda.

The projects are a water borehole with storage tanks that can take up to 60, 000 liters of water, a Gymnasium and Fitness hall with modern electronic physical training and exercising equipment, christened ‘Dove Officers Mess Fitness Gymnasium and an ATM cash withdrawal machine, the first at the barracks.

Speaking while inaugurating the projects, Guards Brigade Commander, Brigadier General UT Musa said the projects are all welfare incentives aimed at motivating troops to give their best and the families to overcome identified challenges.

He was particularly happy about the construction of the ATM centre which he noted would alleviate the stress of troop’s families having to go to town to look for banks for financial transaction.

On the provision of the borehole for the barracks, Brigadier General Musa said it was very timely in view of some challenges experienced recently on public water supply.

His words, “We want to reduce the rate at which our soldiers and their families go out to the banks. The borehole is to alleviate the water challenge and the Fitness hall is to keep our officers in top physical condition in view of the tough physical jobs they perform.

“It will also enhance regimentation and physical fitness which is in line with the COAS admonition of a ready army conditioned for challenges and task assigned to it”.

Representatives of NAOWA in the battalion who could not hide their joy at the construction of the water borehole and the ATM facility sang joyfully commending the Guards Brigade Commander and the CO 7 Guards Battalion
