AANI President Pays Condolence/Courtesy Visit to Shehu of Borno

On Monday, 30th September 2024, the President of the Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI), Ambassador Emmanuel Obi Okafor visited the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji (Dr) Abubakar Ibn Umar Garba El-Kanemi at his palace.
The visit was to offer condolences following the recent devastating floods in Maiduguri, which claimed many lives and displaced over two million people.
Ambassador Okafor expressed his sorrow over the tragic loss and praised the Shehu’s exemplary leadership, which has kept Borno resilient through difficult times.
He also highlighted the contributions of AANI members, including the Borno State Governor, in driving national development and encouraged Shehu to engage AANI members in his domain to further progress in the region.
In response, the Shehu expressed gratitude for the visit and the solidarity shown.
He acknowledged the unprecedented nature of the disaster and commended the efforts of the Borno State Governor and other leaders who have supported the affected people.
Present at the meeting were the Waziri of Borno, members of the Shehu’s council, top government officials, and AANI representatives, including two former AANI Presidents, Engineer MG Umar and IGP MD Abubakar (rtd) as well as other senior AANI officials.
