Absolute Security: IGP’s Special Squads Storm Kidnappers/Armed Robbers Dens; Arrest 15 Vicious Kidnappers; Recover Arms, Ammunition

Special Forces of the Nigerian Police comprising IGP’s Intelligence Response Unit and Anti-Kidnapping Squads, in continuation of the mandate ‘Operation Absolute Security’ to clear the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano-Jigawa Highways of kidnappers of kidnappers have stormed their dens and arrested 15 vicious criminals.

Parading the suspects many of who were dressed in Military Uniforms, and the recovered arms and ammunition at Rijana, along the Abuja-Kaduna Highway, Friday, Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Jimoh Moshood said the first set of 6 kidnappers abducted and murdered one Barr. Sheriff Yazid and took his wife hostage for ransom demands.

The suspects are Adamu Tukur aka Ado, Ahmadu Bala aka Basso, Bello Sule aka Yellow Kachalla, Hamza Sulaiman, Sulaiman Abubakar Giwa who negotiated and collected the ransom and Nuhu Ahmadu, the gang leader who Carries Victims into the Bush with his Motorcycle and also comes to town and buy foodstuff for his gang members.

Items recovered from the 6 kidnappers include 1 AK47 Rifle, Motorcycle used for the Kidnap attack, Cutlasses, Sticks, Charms, 30 Rounds of AK47 Ammunition.

He said the 6 kidnappers were trailed and arrested in their hideouts and camps located around toll gates, Kakau, Sabon Gayan and Rijana axis on Abuja-Kaduna Highway where they were hiding adding that the suspects were identified by the wife of the slain lawyer, Barr. Sheriff Yazid having been also kidnapped by the same gang and freed after collection of ransom.

Moshood paraded another 9-man armed robbery and kidnap for ransom gang responsible for kidnapping several victims along the Abuja-Kaduna road and moving the victims to their den along the Kano-Jigawa road.

He listed the suspects as Aliyu Suleiman-Gang Leader, Nahuru Abubakar, Muazu Lawal, Halilu Garba, Bello Yusuf, Rufai Haruna, Abubakar Haruna, Mohammed Yahaya, and Rashidu Husseini.

Items recovered from the gang are AK47 Rifles, Pump Action Gun, Toyota Hummer Bus, Pairs of Military Uniforms, Cutlasses, 20 rounds of AK47 ammunition.

Moshood said, “The exhibits listed above were recovered from their possession including their operational vehicle, a ‘Toyota Hummer’ bus they use in moving from Kaduna-Kano Express way to Kaduna–Abuja and back to Jigawa State.

“All the mentioned Suspects confessed to several kidnappings and armed robberies along Abuja–Kaduna to Kano Express Way. Investigation is being intensified to arrest the remaining suspects at large”.

 He said the Inspector-General of Police has directed the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGs) and Commissioners of Police (CPs) in zones and commands across the country to beef up security in their Area of Responsibilities (AOR) and ensure massive deployment of Armed Police Personnel, Patrol Teams and undercover operatives  to black spots, flash points and other vulnerable criminal spots to nip in the bud all forms of crimes and criminality nationwide and make sure that detection of crimes are prompt to serve as effective deterrent to who-will-be criminals.

“The on-going raids on criminal hideouts will be sustained throughout the country.

“The Inspector General of Police wishes to extend sincere appreciations and gratitude to the people in the communities, towns and villages along Abuja–Kaduna highway for the supports and assistance being rendered in terms of prompt information and complaints to the Police Personnel deployed in their localities” he added.

The renewed commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to reduce crimes and criminalities in the country to the barest remains unequivocal and unwavering.
