Police Operatives of the IGP Special Intelligence Response Team, in furtherance of the pursuit of armed robbers and kidnappers terrorizing the Abuja-Kaduna Highway, have successfully overpowered some armed robbers and kidnappers in a shootout.
The IRT squad also recovered 413 cows, 50 sheep forcefully rustled by gun wielding bandits from their owners at the Kagarko bush, along the Kaduna axis of the highway.
A sitrep by the Police revealed that “On the Monday 27th November, 2017, at about 2am, IRT operatives on Operation Absolute Sanity along Abuja-Kaduna expressway engaged Some Armed Robbers moving with hundreds of Stolen Cows.

“During the Fierce Gun battle, 2 of the armed robbers met their Waterloo as others fled and abandoned 413 Stolen Cows and 5O Sheep.
“The Cows and Sheep were moved to Katari Town where the following owners came to identify their Stolen Cows as follows: Idi Ibrahim 71 Cows, Abdullah Sani 45 Cows, Ibrahim Mohd 13 Cows and Adamu Lawal 21 Cows & 26 sheep.
Other owners are Suleiman Sa’idu 33 Cows & 2 Sheep, Hamisu Ya’u 8 Cows, Musa Sani 65 Cows 13 sheep, Alhaji Sale Sani 60 Cows, Alhaji Rumi 17 Cows, Yakubu Katafila 2 Cows and Yusuf Muhammad 2 Cows; Unclaimed are 76 Cows & 9 sheep.
The Police further said that “Serious efforts to arrest the remaining Bandits in Progress.”
