Ado Bayero’s Son Aminu, becomes New Emir Of Kano; Sanusi banished.

Aminu Ado Bayero, New Emir of Kano

Emir of Bichi Aminu Ado Bayero has been announced as the new Emir of Kano.

The announcement was made by the Secretary to the State Government, Usman Alhaji a few hours after the removal of Muhammadu Sanusi II.

The appointment takes immediate effect according to the SSG.

Usman Alhaji had explained that the state government took the decision to remove the traditional ruler over allegations of consistently refusing to abide by instructions given to him.

According to him, the removal was in line with the recommendation of the Kano State Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission which summoned the emir.

In documents obtained by Channels Television and signed by the chairman of the commission, Sanusi was accused of obstructing the investigation of the commission.

The commission had asked the traditional ruler to respond to a petition accusing him of selling lands belonging to the Kano Emirate to the tune of N2 billion.

Sanusi had, however, secured a restriction order from a court to stop the commission from investigating him.

Meanwhile, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi ll, who was dethroned as Emir of Kano earlier Monday, March 9, 2020, has been forcibly taken out of Kano and to Nasarawa State, according to security sources.

The source said security personnel have succeeded in taken the emir out of the place at about 4:30pm.

“We are right now at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) on our way to Nasarawa State. It took us several hours to remove the emir from the palace,” the source was quoted as saying.

A visit to the palace indicated that a combined team of heavily armed security personnel from the State Security Service, Police, Civil defence and Army have taken over the palace shortly after the announcement of the removal of the emir,” the report said.
