AHQ Garrison Commences 2022 Operations Planning Cadre for 100 Officers with Participation of NAF, DSS & Police Contingents; As Major Gen AB Ibrahim task Operations Level Commanders on Peacetime Preparedness  

 

The Army headquarters Garrison, Abuja on Monday flagged off the training of about 100 officers drawn from various Army formations in the country, including participants from the Nigerian Airforce, the Department of State Services and the Nigerian Police, with the Chief of Training at Army headquarters, Major General Abdusalam Ibrahim admonishing the officers to devote maximum seriousness as personnel’s training in peacetime breeds confidence during operations and wartime

 

Represented by the Deputy Chief of Training and Exercises, Brigadier General Valentine Okoro, Gen Ibrahim said, “It is in this regards, that the theme of this year’s Operations Planning Cadre, “Capacity Building and Whole-Nation-Approach: Key to Winning Fight Against Insurgency and Terrorism in Nigeria” strongly emphases the core of the COAS’ Vision which is” A Professional Nigerian Army Ready to Accomplish Assigned Missions Within a Joint Environment In Defence of Nigeria”.

 

 

He continued, “There is no gainsaying that personnel’s training in peacetime breeds confidence during operations and wartime. The timing of this training is impeccable as it is coming when our dear nation needs this holistic approach against myriad security challenges.

 

“This is why participants of this Cadre are drawn from across the board, to including other services, sister security agencies and civil organizations. I implore you all to take advantage of the Cadre and derive maximum benefits from it.

 

 

“The Cadre will include a series of lectures, interactive sessions, film shows and hands-on for a proper understanding of the Theme. Therefore, I implore you to take notes and ask questions to clarify your areas of doubt.  By the end of the week, you all would have been better with informed and acquired fundamental knowledge of the Whole – Nation – Approach to our security issues.

 

He commended AHQ Garrison its focus and commitment to training requirements saying, “As the Chief of Training, I have observed AHQ Garrison implement all the schedule in this year’s training activities with utmost enthusiasm. This is obvious in their successes in the just concluded competitions. I commend the Commander AHQ Garrison for his interest in troops’ training and development.”

 

 

In his welcome remarks, Commander Army Headquarters Garrison, Major General Kabiru Garba noted that training was the only way of empowering officers and personnel of the military and security agencies to build capacity towards contending with emerging and existing security challenges.

 

Represented by the Garrison Training Officer, Brigadier General Adeleke Lawal, the Commander said, “You are all aware that the nation is passing through a lot of challenges, and whatever we do comes down to performance of operational level Commanders. The Whole Nation Approach encompasses all security agencies and critical stakeholders in the fight against security threats including terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, etc.

 

 

“Consequently, there will be series of refresher trainings for three days by recalling what you have learnt in the past and new trends to improving and upgrading operations. It is expected that you will bring your best to bear in your interactions that will culminate into synergizing with other security agencies so that there is understanding.

 

“In this wise, any hindrances, challenges, projections will be eliminated and cooperation/synergy in all training with the DSS, the Police and other stakeholders will help move the fight against insecurity to desired success.       

 

A total of 100 officers comprising Army, Nigerian Airforce, DSS and Nigerian Police Personnel drawn from different formations  and  other stakeholders are expected  to participate in the 3 days Operations Planning Cadre
