Akwa Ibom Police Commissioner, CP Don Awunah, visits 6 Battalion; Seeks Unity of Purpose

In continuation of his familiarization tour of Akwa Ibom State, the Commissioner of Police Akwa Ibom State Police Command CP Don Awunah on Thursday 15th June 2017 paid a courtesy call on the Commanding Officer 6 Battalion, Lt Col. S. U Abubakar.

In his remarks, CP Awunah expressed profound gratitude for the warm reception accorded him.

He informed the Commanding Officer that the purpose of his visit was to extend a hand of fellowship to officers and men of the battalion and to build on the already existing cordial relationship between the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Army in the state which dates back to the days of African Volunteer Force and the Hausa Constabulary of 1861.

The CP further stressed the need for security officers and service personnel to be united and focused in order to make the Nigerian project of an indivisible nation a reality as conflicts will send wrong signals to the populace and law enforcement community.

Awunah emphasized that one of the core values of the Inspector General of Police I.G.P Ibrahim K. Idris Policing agenda is Inter Agency Partnership which has help in so many crime busting successes.

He ended his remarks by acquainting the Commanding Officer of his open-door policy and the willingness of the Command under his watch to serve.

Responding, Lt Col. S. U. Abubakar thanked the Akwa Ibom State Police boss for his visit noting that the need for such interaction with sister agencies cannot be over emphasized.

A statement signed by DSP Chukwu Ikechukwu, Police Public Relations Officer, quoted Lt. Colonel Abubakar acknowledging the fact that cooperation between security agencies is necessary in gaining trust and confidence of the people.

The Commanding Officer on a final note commended the C.P for his quick response to issues and accessibility to other security agencies.
