Allegation of #360million Bribe against Wike: Police have become magicians – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has claimed that nobody would be safe in Nigeria if the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the government under its control succeeded in destroying the police as an institution.
The party’s top hierarchy spoke in Abuja, on Wednesday, against the backdrop of the allegation by the police that Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, bribed officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with N111million to influence the outcome of the December 10 National Assembly rerun election in the state.
Chairman, PDP National Caretaker Committee, Ahmed Makarfi, described the display of the huge cash the police claimed to have recovered from the alleged culprits as nothing but playing to the gallery adding that it reminded him reminded him of the actions of magicians.
Speaking in Abuja at the submission of the report of Jerry Gana-led PDP Strategy Review and Inter-Party Affairs Committee, the former Governor of Kaduna State, said there was no evidence to prove that the money was from Wike.
His words: “The police brought out money saying it was confiscated from INEC officers. We too could have brought some monies here and also said they were confiscated from INEC officers.
“What of the money with the police and other security agencies? Have they not compromised or is the money not recoverable? We must not bastardize public institutions. It is either we do the right thing or the right thing will be done to us.”
Emphasizing Makarfi’s position, Secretary of the Committee, Dayo Adeyeye, demanded the police to stop harassing Wike, advising that the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, must to be conscious of his place in history by the manner he handled the Rivers matter.
He said: “What is the evidence that the monies recovered from INEC officers were from the PDP or the governor? Were the monies marked? So, APC did not bribe INEC officers?
