Authorities of the Nigerian Navy on Tuesday swiftly clarified the presentation of the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok Ette Ibas to members of the House of Representatives Committee on Defence, emphasizing that the CNS only recommended rotation of the position of Chief of Defence Staff among the zones.

A statement issued by Captain Suleiman Dahun, Acting Director, Naval Information, debunked the story earlier published by a National Daily, whose report was keyed into by the Social Media, erroneously claiming the representative of the CNS told the committee that service chiefs should be rotated among zones.
Captain Dahun statement simply said, “It is simply untrue. The Chief of Naval Staff only asked for rotation of the position of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS)”.
The clarification by Naval Authorities should put to rest the wrong quotation of the Navy’s helmsman about the fake claim.
