A statement from MPB sighted by Securityking News, signed by Flight Lieutenant Abdullahi Gambo,
Public Relations Officer, on behalf of Chairman MPB, titled, ‘*Re: Complaint On Non-Payment of Gratuity To Discharged Soldiers’, made this known on Wednesday.
It reads, “The attention of of the Military Pensions Board (MPB) has been drawn to a letter purportedly written by discharged soldiers of First and Second Quarter 2022.
“The letter, which has been circulating on social media, is a misinformation which contains no meaningful facts.
“For proper perspective, the MPB wishes to categorical state that the Board presently does not owe any retiree.
“The process of receiving gratuties and other benefits is well known to all retiring personnel and the MPB has been promptly attending to requests for payment of retirement benefits.

“The Board, therefore, wishes to notify all military retirees and the general public to disregard this false information.
“Accordingly, all retirees with legitimate claims are free to approach the Board for payment of their entitlements.
“The Chairmam MPB and all other critical stakeholders are working tirelessly to ensure prompt and proper payment of retirement benefits to military retirees including payment of Death Benefits to Nex of Kin of deceased personnel.
“This is in line with the Board’s mission which is “Ensuring Prompt Payment of Retirement and Death Benefits of Military Retirees or their dependants through a Transparent and Accountable Pension Administration System”.
“On behalf of our esteemed pensioners, the Board wishes to thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his immense support by ensuring prompt release of funds to the Board for payment of retirement and death benefits.
“The Board is also grateful to the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) for their unflinching support and direction.
