Amnesty Coordinator Commends Army for Protection of Nations Critical Infrastructure & Peace in Niger Delta

The Coordinator, Presidential Amnesty Programme for Niger Delta, Prof Charles Dokubo has commended the Nigerian Army for the peace and security in the region which has boosted the nations’ revenue generation capacity..

Speaking at Army headquarters when he paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, Prof Dokubo said the performance of the Nigerian Army has greatly enhanced human development and provided enabling environment for social and economic growth.

In particular, the Coordinator commended the COAS, Lt. General Tukur Buratai, officers and personnel of the Nigerian Army for safeguarding critical national infrastructure in the Niger Delta which has restored Nigeria’s place as a leader in the comity of oil producing nations.

He however appealed for more collaboration from the military to ensure sustainable security of critical infrastructure as well as the overall peace of the Delta region noting that the efforts of the NA and other security agencies to the wellbeing of Nigeria cannot be quantified.

Responding, the Chief of Army Staff, who was represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans, Army, Lt. General Lamidi Adeosun, thanked the Coordinator for the visit and assured him that the Nigerian Army prides itself in doing everything possible towards ensuring the peace and stability of the nation.

He said that as a constitutional responsibility of the Nigerian Army, the protection and security of critical national infrastructure in all parts of Nigeria must be done with vigour and commitment.

He promised that the Nigerian Army will continue to collaborate and support the committee to ensure the success of the programme.

Chief of Training and Operations, Major General Enobong Udoh, Chief of Military Intelligence, Major General SA Adebayo and Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col Sagir Musa were among officers that graced the occasion.
