Anambra Police Commissioner caution’s Citizens against Jungle Justice; As Operatives rescue 3 armed robbery suspects

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra Command, CP Echeng Echeng on Tuesday called on Ndi-Anambra to refrain from engaging in jungle justice. 

The CP made this cal following an attempt by an angry mob to set three (3) alleged armed robbery suspects on fire through jungle justice.

A statement by DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, spokesman of the cammand said, “The timely arrival and intervention of some police operatives at the scene saved the suspects from being lynched.

“The suspects Ifeanyi Nsiegbunam 23years, Chinemelum Nwafor 27years, and Nnamdi Nwakwesili 40yrs, were alleged to have on 05/03/2022 at about 10am, dispossessed a student of Chukwuemeka Odimeogwu Ojokwu University, Igbariam of her belongings.

Incriminating items found and recovered from the suspects include: one locally made single barrel pistol, a white coloured dagger, a big saw, a big hammer, a black and brown coloured lady’s bag, an Infinix phone, a black Panasonic phone and three (3) phone chargers.

The CP was full of thanks to the public for the arrest of the three suspects and for their continuous assistance to the Police in the fight against crimes in the State.

He, however, enjoined them to always follow the due process by handing over arrested suspects to the Police. 

He notes that this would afford the Police  opportunity to conduct appropriate investigation and prosecution of  suspects and ensure justice.             
Meanwhile, the CP assures  that the three rescued suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigation is completed.
