Army holds Human Rights Sensitization Campaign in 82 Div HQ.

 

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division Nigerian Army (NA), Major General Adamu Baba Abubakar on Thursday commended a team officers from the Army Headquarters Department of Civil – Military Affairs (AHQ DCMA), for the enhancement and sustenance of mutual excellent Civil – Military Relations between the civil populace and the NA.

The enlightenment campaign through constant sensitization and awareness of the civil populace is in observance of Human Rights and Law of Armed Conflict (International Humanitarian Law).

The GOC gave the commendation when a team of Senior Army Officers led by the Director of Information AHQ DCMA, Brigadier General Rabe Abubakar visited the division for a one-day sensitization campaign on Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law to the officers and soldiers of 82 Division.

Major General Abubakar reiterated the commitment and determination of the leadership of the NA to respect for human rights and constituted authorities.

He urged the team to be detailed and passionate about the campaign in their interaction with the 500 soldiers selected across the formation and are ready to listen to the lecture.

 Two major highlights of the campaign were-presentation on the ‘Professionally Responsive Soldier: A Worthy Ambassador’ and the determination and sincerity of purpose of the NA leadership to ensuring that personnel of the NA respect human rights at all times, in and out of conflict situations.

Other officers in the team included Civilian Liaison Officer and Head of Human Rights Desk at the AHQ DCMA Lt. Colonel PAT Ebuk and Captain NU Ukachukwu respectively.
