The Nigerian Army said on Tuesday night that its troops of 153 Task Force Battalion in conjunction with elements of Cameroonian Defence Forces while on clearance operation on Monday 11 June 2018, encountered Boko Haram terrorists.
The Army said 23 of the terrorists were neutralized and several others wounded during the encounter.
“Items recovered include, six AK 47 rifles, two FN rifles, eight AK 47 rifle magazines, 33 rounds of 7.62 mm NATO ammunition, one link of 7.62mm NATO, and two motorcycles.
Continuing the Army said, “Troops had earlier cleared numerous villages in the Lake Chad region including Bulakeisa, Tumbuma Babba, Abbaganaram and Dan Baure, among others.

In a similar vein, the General Officer Commanding 8 division, Major General Stevenson Olabanji has charged troops to remain committed and steadfast during the final onslaught against the Boko Haram terrorists.
Olabanji gave the advice while addressing troops of Operation Lafiya Dole at Gubio and Damasak respectively.
He stated that the end has come for the terrorists in northern Borno state, adding that ‘Operation Last Hold’ was designed to end the activities of the insurgents in the enclaves and islands of Lake Chad region.
A statement by Brigadier General Texas Chukwu, Director, Army Public Relations said the GOC advised the troops to be courageous and discipline during the final assault on the insurgents’ enclaves.
The GOC also visited the 2 Division Task Force Brigade of Operation Last Hold in Zarre where he was received by the Commander, Brigadier General Aliyu Abdullahi.
