The Nigerian has recovered a large cache of arms in Bayelsa State and arrested one suspect following a tip of.

The troops recovered the weapons during a raid operation in the early hours of today, Sunday 29 July 2018 along Agbura-Otuoke road in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

Also, while conducting a search in the house of a suspected militant leader, Mr. Emmanuel Lawson alias “General” who is now at large, some quantity of arms and ammunition were recovered.

However, his accomplice, Mrs. Ebikaboere Emmanuel was arrested.

While noting that efforts are on to track the suspect with all his accomplices, the army said, items recovered include: two G3 rifles, two AK47 rifles, two Baretta pistols, four AK47 magazine, two G3 rifle magazine, 11 Cartridges and 325 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition.

Other are two rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, two portraits, one military Police General Duty Belt, one Military Police anklet, and one hand glove.

A statement by Brigadier General Texas Chukwu said the Nigerian Army is assuring the general public particularly residents of Bayelsa State of its commitment in protecting lives and property of the citizens.

“Members of the public are advised to report any suspicious activities to the law enforcement agents for prompt action” he said.

Meanwhile, troops of 28 Task Force Brigade deployed in operation LAFIYA DOLE on Sunday 29 July 2018 intercepted one Zainab Mohammed-15 years, at Gubla who escaped from Boko Haram terrorist’s camp.

The troops also successfully repelled an attack by the terrorists.

Items recovered according to an Army statement include: one AK 47 rifle, one Magazine containing four rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition.

The Army said the hostage will be handed over to the appropriate authority on completion of investigation.
