AVM Shittu Alao Assumes Command as Commandant Armed Forces Command & Staff College, (AFCSC), Jaji.

A new Commandant has been appointed for the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) Jaji Nigeria.

He is Air Vice Marshal Lawal Shittu Alao. AVM Lawal Shittu Alao took over from Air Vice Marshal Suleiman Abubakar Dambo who retires after 35 years of meritorious service.

Air Vice Marshal Alao was born on 1 June 1966 and hails from Oyo State. He enlisted into the Nigerian Air Force on 1st June 1984 as a

University cadet and was commissioned on 11 September 1986.

The new Commandant until his appointment as the 22nd Commandant of the prestigious College was the Chief of Administration at the Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, Abuja.

AVM Alao was a recipient of the Commander -in- Chief award at the National Defence College Abuja as the Best All Round Participant of

Course 18 National Defence College Abuja.

 Also, he was equally selected to have written the Best Research project during his course.

 He is an alumnus of Air Force Command and Staff College Indonesia where he won the Mayangkara Award as the Best Foreign student.

 In the course of his Military career, AVM Alao has held several appointments amongst which are Instructor Supply School, Technical Training Group Kaduna, Officer in Charge supply squadron, Headquarters Nigeria Air Force Camp Abuja.

 He was also Director National and Military Strategy National Defence College Abuja and Chief of Administration Nigeria Air Force Abuja his last Posting before his present appointment.

At a brief Handing-Over ceremony at the Headquarters Armed Forces Command and Staff College the immediate past Commandant, urged officers and men to extend same level of cooperation and support accorded him to the new Commandant to enable him consolidate on the achievement the College witnessed during his tenure.

The new Commandant expressed happiness at the level and standard the College has attained and promised to build on it.

He prayed for good health for the retiring former Commandant to enable him enjoys the fruit of his labour.

Highlight of the occasion was the exchange of AFCSC Colours and handover notes.

Present at the occasion were the Deputy Commandant, Directors of the College, Chief Instructors and the host of other College Staff.
