Ban on Unapproved Uniforms for Patrols, Stop & Search: CP Echeng tasks Anambra Command on Strict Compliance.

Following the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba’s order on immediate ban on unapproved uniform and outfit of personnel when performing their duties, the Commissioner of Police Anambra state, CP Echeng Echeng on Tuesday 15/3/2022 directed all the Command disciplinary units particularly the Command Provost, X-Squad, Monitoring and Public Complain Unit to ensure strict compliance.

The disciplinay units are to make sure that police officers detailed for patrol, stop and search, check point, and other routine operational duties must be in approved uniforms when performing their duties in the State. 

A statement by DSP Ikenga Tochukwu on behalf of the CP said, “This shall enhance easy identification of Nigeria Police Force Personnel.

“This directive is in line with the Force leadership commitment in promoting strategic police reforms geared at sanitizing operational engagements, and bequeathing to the nation a professional policing system is required.

However the CP noted that uniforms which is part of means of identification, has been long abused by officers who engage in improper dressing adding that uniforms helps improved security service delivery in the state. 

He warned that heads of Tactical  Units including Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) would be held vicariously liable and appropriate disciplinary actions taken against them, if their personnel appearance are inconsistent with these order and directives.
